BJP candidate Parvesh Verma filed a complaint against the nomination of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for the New Delhi Assembly constituency seat.

Raising several concerns, the complaint outlined income discrepancies, failure to disclose criminal cases and voter registration issues as it sought cancellation of Arvind Kejriwal’s nomination.

In the complaint, Parvesh Verma claimed that Arvind Kejriwal “reported incorrect income figures in his affidavit for years 2019-20, 2021-22, and 2022-23″ as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader showed incorrect salary as the Delhi Chief Minister.

His nomination “states that his actual salary as Delhi Minister (from 2011 to 2023) should have been Rs. 20,000 per month plus daily allowances and other benefits,” the complaint read.

The complaint also questioned Arvind Kejriwal’s “voter registration in part no. 52 of New Delhi constituency (Serial No. 709)” and alleged that “his vote appears in multiple locations including Ghaziabad, Kaushambi.”

Furthermore, Parvesh Verma noted in the complaint that Arvind Kejriwal failed to disclose details of four FIRs filed against him at North Avenue Police Station, owing to which his nomination should be rejected.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said, “Election commission will decide on it but since he is a public figure, this is a serious matter and should be investigated.”

Delhi Assembly election for all 70 constituencies is scheduled to be held on 5 February. Results will be declared on 8 February.

Arvind Kejriwal filed his nomination for the New Delhi constituency earlier this week when the AAP national convenor said, “I have filed the nomination. I would like to tell the people of Delhi that please vote for work, on one side there is a party that works and on the other side, there is a party that abuses… So vote for work, education, health, electricity, water, roads, vote for these things. A lot of work has been done. There is still a lot of work left to be done, so I hope that people will vote for hard work. They (BJP) have neither a CM, nor vision, narrative.”
