European powerhouses Chelsea and Napoli are reportedly expected to make renewed approaches for Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho. The exciting young Argentine talent could leave Old Trafford this month as he does not quite fit in Ruben Amorim’s new system. Garnacho’s availability on the transfer market has drawn interest from the Serie A outfit for a potential move for the 20-year-old. They were initially in pole position to sign the Manchester United winger. Now, a new report from Spanish outlet Diario AS (via TEAMtalk) has claimed that Chelsea could make a concrete approach to land Garnacho in the winter transfer window.
Napoli had previously submitted two bids to Manchester United for Alejandro Garnacho’s services. The second bid came in at a whopping $57 million. It was still rejected by the Old Trafford-based side as it failed to meet their $73.7 million asking price. Chelsea, on the other hand, are now looking to thunder into the race and hijack Napoli’s talks. They might have already held talks with the Argentine ace’s camp as his agents were spotted during The Blues’ fixture against Wolverhampton on Monday. It is speculated that the Londoners are seriously considering a £60 million proposal to match Manchester United’s asking price.

Alejandro Garnacho was one of the few bright lights during Erik ten Hag’s tenure at Old Trafford. The young Argentine was one of the club’s breakout stars in the 2022-23 campaign when he made eight goal contributions in 29 appearances. Garnacho had a string of memorable performances including his winner against Real Sociedad in the Europa League. It made the Argentine the youngest foreign player to score for Manchester United in a European tournament. He continued to impress last season with 10 goals across competitions, including a stunning overhead kick that won him the FIFA Puskas Award in 2024. In the 2024/25 season, however, Garnacho has managed just three goals and one assist in 21 league games.
Since Ruben Amorim’s arrival, Alejandro Garnacho’s form has suffered from inconsistency. The Argentine was dropped for the Manchester Derby last year and has failed to return to the fold since then. Manchester United are now looking to cash in on the situation by finding the right suitor for their young star. They are listening to offers for some of their top stars to improve their financial situation and Garnacho might just be the first one to exit the club.
